Madeleane Hazen
Welcome, mama! I am so very glad you are here. If you’ve found us, chances are you are in a time of need within your brand. Maybe you are just now starting a business or you could be struggling to get the next level. Either way, I know running a business alongside raising a family is a lot to say the least. It is my joy to harness my talents to ease the workload and stress for other women and help us all build the life of our dreams.
I started Pais + Haze in 2016 after making the difficult choice to leave a career as a wedding venue director when it occurred to me I signed up for a very demanding lifestyle that would make it difficult to be with my family in the future. Even then, 5 years before having a child of my own, I was mindful of how motherhood + work affect one another. P + H has evolved in so many ways over the years from its humble beginnings leading creative workshops, but it always stemmed from a desire to create art and share it with others. For as long as I can remember, I knew I would be a mother AND an entrepreneur, without having to choose between the two. I believe you can do it, but you can’t do it alone… I know from personal experience. So here I am now, a mamapreneur on a mission to help other mamapreneurs!

I grew up in highly academic private schools, graduated with a Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management in 3 years, and have taught myself everything I know about graphic & website design!
Aside from P + H, I have had many other hobbies turned businesses including hand-making jewelry, designing dog accessories, and hosting vendor markets & wellness retreats. I simply cannot help myself when I get a business idea. Now I live vicariously through my clients! I’ve learned the lesson that not every hobby needs to be a money maker, but I will always crave the feeling of starting a new brand. There is nothing like it! Needless to say all my experience dabbling in other ventures has taught me a lot about entrepreneurship.

Wondering what Pais + Haze means? The name is inspired by two key pillars of my life when I started it in 2016:
Pais for my sweet pup Paisley, the first baby who truly trained me to be the mom I am today.Haze for the last name of my then boyfriend… luckily it worked out and we have been together over a decade. You could say I was committed!

My faith as a Christian is the foundation upon how I live my entire life. I value family, kindness, treating others with respect, and giving grace.

Remember when I said I have a tendency to turn every hobby into a business… It’s true! My main hobby truly is designing and creating art.
A couple non-work related hobbies include home projects such as home organizing & interior decorating, baking, crafting, and binging tv shows.

As a working mom, no two days are ever the same! However, routine & structure in my schedule is super important to me.
On an ideal weekday, my son & I start the day by making coffee, sharing breakfast, and taking a walk to the park or the gym for a workout. We’ll make a smoothie when we return and I’ll set him up for some independent play as I begin to work near him. During his nap time I make progress on design projects and save work that can be done through my phone for the time I’m more one-on-one with him. A few days a week I have daytime childcare to have truly uninterrupted studio time. On the days I don’t, I spend my evening after his bedtime catching up! My schedule is a bit unconventional as a working mom but I prioritize my role in raising him first and then make it work however I need to outside of that to show up for my clients.
