THE TWO LOVELY LADIES WHO MAKE UP THE PAIS + HAZE STUDIO

MADELEANE HAZEN

+ A MULTI-PASSIONATE CREATIVE IN LOVE WITH ALL THINGS GRAPHIC DESIGN, CALLIGRAPHY, + PHOTOGRAPHY

OWNER + LEAD DESIGNER OF PAIS + HAZE CREATIVE CO.

Pais + Haze is my heart and soul in tangible form. I took a leap of faith and left a stable, full time wedding venue director position to see if I could make this a reality. I’ve spent countless days and nights creating, tossing ideas in the trash, starting over from scratch, and experimenting. My experience in building this business allows me to appreciate even more what YOU are building. I'm here to create your brand + tell a story for you because I have found so much freedom and independence in "owning" a brand. There is a soul searching that occurs when you dive into the branding process. I also know how difficult some parts of this entrepreneurship thing are when they aren’t what you got in business for but they are necessary to succeed. Maybe the branding and photography side of things don’t fill up your soul, but you feel like you have to spend time on them to succeed? Maybe it’s about time that you hand over the baton and allow someone to do the work you don’t enjoy so you can be a better "____________”. I would be honored to play a part in your business. The process we go through together teaches you about your wants, needs, style, and purpose, as well as your audience's. It's beautiful and I believe everyone should have a chance to do so at least one time in their lives! I truly believe that owning a small business is one of the most impressive, life changing projects you can take on. I’m impressed by you all and understand what you’ve done to get to where you are today.

I believe personality and back story of a person tells a lot about someone's brand, so let me tell you some personal things - Pais + Haze is named after my two heart throbs: my dog Paisley who joins me in the studio daily + my husband Hunter who pushes me to reach my dreams and takes me on wild adventures. I’m a bit too much of a homebody so it takes a lot to get me out in the real world although I’m also pretty social. When I do get out, I really enjoy coffee shop dates, our favorite dine-in movie theater, and some pampering. I love owning a business and working out of the comfort of my own home!

RAVEN HILL

+ an atlanta based florist & botanical illustrator who truly ‘gets’ nature

OWNER + CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF THE BOTANICAL STUDIO

I have always been drawn to nature and the solidarity it brings me. As an artist, I have found that my work is geared in a floral / plant direction. I draw my inspiration from the 70+ houseplants in my loft, along with the constant fresh blooms that are always kept in here. My favorite flowers + plants are the wild ones - the ones that have no symmetry, the plants that trail how they wish, and the foreign flowers that are atypical to America. When I launched my floral + design company, I knew I wanted to create a brand for myself that speaks 'Raven'. I wanted my name to be one that was recognizable within instantly seeing my designs. That also ties into my botanical illustrations; I have always loved sketching what was in my sight and articulately studying the grooves and textures of my still life. My botanical illustrations directly link to my art degree background and quite often tie into the 6+ countries I studied art history in during my college career. I take pride in my art historical studies and how it allows me to successfully execute designs / illustrations for my clientele.

THE PHILOSOPHY

When it comes to branding, a website, or photos you’re going to use for your business, there are a couple major concepts that we just can’t ignore…

Studio-8.jpg

+ Functionality —

When you walk away from our process, what we have created for you needs to function! That sounds obvious but we really mean it. I won’t design a pretty website for you that you can’t manage. I’ll coach you through how to easily update images, create blog posts, add to the verbiage when needed, etc. so that it doesn’t become a crutch to your business. I receive so many inquiries that say “I'm stuck on my website so I’ve been ignoring it” — that’s a problem I want to be sure you never have after we’re done! With your branding, I absolutely love creating a variation of each design that will function in different ways for you (i.e. website banners, email headers, social media profiles, image watermarks, etc.) And if we do a photo shoot of your products and/or you, let’s be sure they will be useful to you for a long time! We will plan out the shoot to maximize what content we create.

+ Longevity —

Keeping up with the latest trends IS important in ways to keep up with the competition but we don’t want to back you into a corner with branding or a website that makes you look just like the others. I totally get it… you look up to someone in your industry who is paving the way with a certain style of branding or images (whatever it may be) so you feel like you should be keeping up in the same way. But it’s totally not true. You CAN indeed set yourself apart and stand out without copying what’s popular. Start your own look and “thing” that you can be recognized for rather than getting lost in the sea of your industry. I won’t be satisfied unless we create something totally unique. While there may be a semblance of “trend” to it, it will last you through your business.

+ Personality —

Let’s face it, you are likely the only thing unique about your business! Sounds harsh, but whether you a handmade product maker, an artist, or a photographer (or something totally different!), I highly doubt you are creating THE ONLY version of what you create. The creative industry is vast and highly competitive. There are a lot of us offering different versions of the same things. There’s so much I love about that concept but I also think it’s easy for us to feel like copy cats, boring, or unimportant. But YOU are the biggest asset in your toolbox! Your personality and voice is the one thing that you can use to set your offerings apart. I hope to capture that personality of yours whether it be through branding designs, the voice in your website, the styling of your product photos, or even your personal headshots.
